Santorini Yoga Retreat

Discover the best of Santorini, the famous volcanic island nestled in the heart of the Cyclades, while also enjoying time by the sea in one of its best-known coastal villages.

Early September offers the ideal setting for combining yoga with a relaxing holiday. The sea is still warm, the temperatures are pleasant and the island is less crowded than during the peak summer months.

Our days will begin with yoga, either by the sea or in the hotel’s garden. On one or two mornings, we’ll meet early for meditation and welcome the first rays of the rising sun.

Throughout this Santorini yoga retreat, you can look forward to discovering some of the island’s highlights. Our private tour will take us to the Akrotiri excavations, the traditional village of Megalochori and a local winery. You’ll also have time to explore the charming village of Oia, with return transfers included, and join a mindful walk through the hidden village of Vothonas.

You’ll also have the opportunity to indulge in delicious Greek cuisine. We’ll begin the retreat with a welcome dinner by the sea, enjoy a wine tasting accompanied by a meze lunch at a local winery, and start each day with a varied buffet breakfast featuring both local and international favourites.

ACCOMMODATION by the sea

The 2027 Santorini yoga retreat will take place just a few steps from the sea. Our home will be Kastelli Resort, a charming property with traditional whitewashed buildings and blue shutters, set within lush gardens filled with lawns , bougainvillea flowers and palm trees. Several swimming pools are tucked throughout the grounds, and you’ll be in for a treat with the comfort and attentive service of a five-star hotel.

Our accommodation is just a three-minute walk from the beach. During our Santorini yoga retreat, classes will take place either in the hotel gardens or by the sea, with early-morning meditation as we watch the sun rise over the horizon.

Kamari is a well-known seaside village with a long beach of black sand and pebbles, lined by a pedestrian promenade. In the morning, you’ll see keen runners passing by and local grandmothers taking a refreshing dip while chatting about the day ahead. Throughout the day, you can enjoy local restaurants, cafés and shops selling much more than the usual souvenirs.

Rising above Kamari Beach is the magnificent Mesa Vouno, the rocky mountain crowned by the ancient settlement of Ancient Thira—an ideal hiking destination with spectacular views.

Getting to Santorini?

Santorini Airport, also known as Thira Airport (JTR), is the only airport on the island and is approximately a 15-minute drive from Kamari.

Shortly before your arrival, you will receive an arrival form where you can request an airport transfer at an additional cost.

You can also travel to Santorini by ferry, the port is called Athinios. . Direct ferry connections are available from Athens, as well as from several neighbouring islands.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like me to help plan your journey from another Greek island or arrange an extended stay in Greece before or after the retreat.

My Book recommendation

Book: The Figurine by Victoria Hislop

If you’d like to explore modern Greek history intertwined with the country’s prehistoric past, this is a wonderful read.

Movie: Summer Lovers

This 1980s American film helped make Oia’s sunset famous around the world and also offers a glimpse into the excavations at Akrotiri.

Staying an extra night?

You are welcome to extend your stay in Santorini by adding an extra night before or after the retreat. International travellers arriving through Athens may also wish to spend a few nights exploring the city.

If you are planning a longer stay, I would be happy to help arrange additional nights, hotels in other parts of Greece, transfers and extra activities.

Wonderful clear teaching style with a variety of different levels of difficulty to suit different abilities. We enjoyed the retreat for its fantastic views, food and yoga.
